CNR

Description

Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) with more than 8000 employees is the largest public research institution of Italy under the Ministry of Research MIUR. It performs research in over 100 Institutes, promotes innovation and competitiveness of the national industrial system and the internationalization of the national research system, provides technologies and solutions to emerging public and private needs and advices Government and other public bodies. The Istituto di Struttura della Materia (ISM-CNR) performs cutting-edge interdisciplinary research in the fields of physics, chemistry and materials science. The activities find applications in areas such as energy, environment, biological systems, electronic and magnetic devices, and recycling. They range from theoretical modeling to the development of prototypal devices, via the study of the processes involved, the preparation and functionalization of materials, the characterization of their structural and electronic properties and largely benefit by the in-house development of new instrumentation and new methodologies. The Istituto di tecnologie industriali e automazione (ITIA-CNR), coherently with the strategic lines of the CNR Department of Engineering, ICT and Technologies for Energy and Transport and the European objectives, continuously supports the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector by bringing innovation in the factory. The research and innovation activities on enabling technologies of ITIA-CNR are organized in core competence areas, mastered by seven Research Departments. Such Departments cover complementary and synergic research domains, whose integration allows the definition of innovative factories, considering all the different aspects involved: from business model to logistics, systems, machines and devices. The enabling technologies and tools developed by the Research Departments are used to realize physical pilot factories, at the moment four, which represent valuable platforms to support industrial research and the transfer of research results to companies.

Partner and Raw Materials

Within the EIT KIC Raw materials KAVA, besides PCRec project, ISN-CNR is partner of the Magnetometry Network.
